KHIMIA 2009
ru_banner.jpg The Khimia in Moscow is one of the major international exhibitions for the chemical industry in Russia and the CIS and was thus a must for the compacting division of Hosokawa Bepex GmbH.

From September 28th to October 2nd, 2009 we successfully established new contacts and discussed existing projects on the booth of our Russian representative Philipp Industrievertretungen .

The poster shows a Kompaktor type MS 600. This biggest type of Kompaktor is used for compacting or briquetting potassium salts, for instance.

University of Sheffield: International Symposium on Agglomeration
Agglomeration_Workshop.jpg The University of Sheffield hosted during 22 - 27 June 2009 the 9th International Symposium on Agglomeration. At this symposium, Hermann Stahl, Hosokawa Bepex GmbH presented a paper about “New Challenges for Press Agglomeration Using Roller Compaction“:

Fine dispersed bulk materials are processed with roller compactors to hard flakes and briquettes. Minerals, metals and chemicals have today much higher purities and are often more corrosive and abrasive than in the past. Extremely abrasive and corrosive products cannot be processed with usual materials of construction. Abrasion and corrosion have consequences to contamination of the products and wear costs of the equipment. The target is to work without or at least with a minimum of contamination and to improve the service life of the equipment.

The paper reported about interdisciplinary research work using finite elements and plasma physics. As a result a matrix was developed which allows a close consideration of the resistance against corrosion and wear versus mechanical and thermal requirements of the parts in contact with the product to be processed.

ACHEMA 2009
achema2009.jpg Need advice in mechanical process engineering?
You have hopefully visited our booth at the ACHEMA 2009 in Frankfurt, then. The Hosokawa Group’s concentrated expertise was available during this summit.

The highlight of Hosokawa Bepex GmbH was a universal Roll Press, the Kompaktor MS 150, for agglomeration and high pressure roller grinding . This roll press with smooth rolls is used for compacting the most different bulk products in a contamination-free way. Even agglomerating highly abrasive products like aluminium oxide, feldspar or silicon oxide is possible.

You did not have the chance to visit us during the ACHEMA? You are welcome to contact our powder experts at compaction@bepex.hosokawa.com

MagMin Conference
MagMin2009.jpg The 2009 MagMin Conference was held from May 10th to 12th in Amsterdam/The Netherlands.

Hosokawa Bepex was proud to delegate their “magnesia expert” Mr. Hermann Stahl to this international convention, presenting a paper about “Briquetting of caustic magnesia for dead burning purposes”:

Usually rotary kilns or vertical shaft kilns are used to obtain a sintered material (Periclase) from caustic magnesia. Typically all caustic magnesia grades are very fine and have a low bulk density. The sintering process needs in general a feed material with a certain density from which the thermal process can start to increase the density further until the final MgO Periclase is obtained.
All types of kilns require not only a dense product but also an agglomerate, pellet or briquette with a high dropping and crushing strength in order to survive the thermal and mechanical stresses while the agglomerates are passing the kiln. The feed to the kilns has to be dust free and with a certain particle size. The request for high purity of the Periclase end product does not allow any binders or additives.

During the conference, the important role of the briquetting process in caustic magnesia plants under consideration of caustic properties like particle size, loss of ignition and chemical properties was discussed. Layout features and state of the art plant designs were presented.

Trade Shows in Autumn 2007
logo_weltkugel.jpg Trade Shows in Autumn 2007

In the course of autumn 2007, Hosokawa Bepex’s business division “Compacting Technology” presented itself at numerous trade shows around the globe.

The “world tour”, coming up to the Hosokawa globe logo, started in Russia at the “Chemistry Moscow” at the beginning of September, the marketplace of Russia’s chemical industry. The next exhibition place was IPB Expo in Shanghai, where our sister company Hosokawa Micron (Shanghai) Powder Machinery Co., Ltd. represented us at the end of October. Only a few days after China, we attended the India ChemExpo/PharmExpo in Mumbai. After having presented our technology at the CFIA in Strasbourg, France at the end of November, we finished our exhibition tour where we started: in Russia, this time at the exhibition PharmTech Moscow.

We would like to thank all visitors to our booths and are looking forward to our next trade show, the Interphex in Philapdelphia, USA in March 2008!
